Aran Choi was born in South Korea in 1997. She began playing classical guitar at the age of 7 with her father, Yongsuk Choi.
At the age of 13, she came to Germany alone and studied with Prof. Rainer Feldmann at the Julius Stern Institute, where she also completed her bachelor's degree at the Berlin University of the Arts. During her bachelor's degree, she spent an Erasmus year with Prof. Alexander Swete at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and she completed her master's degree with Prof. Marco Tamayo at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Aran Choi achieved her first competitive successes as a young adult, winning numerous national and international competitions: 1st Prize at the Andrés Segovia Guitar Competition in Velbert in 2010, 2nd and 3rd Prize at the Anna Amalia Guitar Competition in Weimar in 2011 and 2013, and 1st Prize at the Dussmann Competition in Berlin in 2013.
She has chamber concerts as a member of the Aurelis Quartet in Germany and Choi's Guitar Duo with her father in South Korea.
Since 2023, she has been a guitar teacher at the Spandau Music School.
